When I asked the pet shop man (or more accurately, the guy who was selling plants, coffee mugs, and turtles at the side of the road) how long she would live, he answered "If you don't feed it, they can live up to a month." Don't worry, I plan on feeding her. I even bought some little turtle pellets, although Lily assured me that turtles can also live on rice.

The Newest Member of the Family
Say hello to 豆豆! (pronounced do do, or just Beans)

FYI: small turtles carry large amounts of salmonella. Basically their poop is poison. It's a natural defense. If you constantly clean out the bowl he and she is in, and ALWAYS wash your hands and keep yourself from making out with them, you should be ok.
I'm a nerd who knows this because I wanted a little turtle SO BAD when i was a kid.
